Primary job title: Consultant – Internal Medicine

Industry & Sector: Healthcare — Clinical services and community hospital care focused on outpatient and inpatient internal medicine for regional populations in North Kerala. This on-site consultant role will support a busy clinical service delivering high-quality, evidence-based general medicine care.

About the Opportunity

We are recruiting a skilled General Medicine Consultant to lead clinical care delivery in Paravoor (North Kerala). You will manage acute and chronic medical conditions across inpatient wards and outpatient clinics, collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, and contribute to high standards of patient safety, documentation, and diagnostic accuracy.

Role & Responsibilities

• Provide expert clinical assessment and management of adults presenting with acute and chronic medical conditions in inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Lead daily ward rounds, create timely treatment plans, and coordinate escalation to specialty or critical care when required.
• Perform and interpret diagnostic tests including ECGs and bedside POCUS; initiate appropriate investigations and follow-up.
• Prescribe evidence-based therapies, manage medication reconciliation, and oversee discharge planning with clear documentation.
• Support emergency response and stabilization for medical emergencies, participating in on-site resuscitation and escalation protocols.

• Contribute to clinical governance: audit, quality improvement, guidelines adherence, and mentoring junior medical staff.

Skills & Qualifications

Must-Have

• MD or DNB in General Medicine
• Proven clinical experience managing inpatient and outpatient general medicine cases
• Competence in acute medical assessment and stabilisation
• ECG interpretation and bedside ultrasound (POCUS) experience
• Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• Familiarity with Electronic Medical Records and accurate clinical documentation

Preferred

• Experience with critical care protocols or short-term ICU support
• Background in community hospital or multi-specialty hospital settings in India
• Experience leading clinical audits and quality improvement projects
