High-volume clinical practice delivering comprehensive musculoskeletal care including trauma, joint replacement, arthroscopy and rehabilitative services across Andhra Pradesh. This is an on-site clinical consultant role based in Bhimavaram, Andhra Pradesh, India. Primary title: Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon

Role & Responsibilities

  • Provide expert outpatient, inpatient and perioperative orthopedic care—evaluate referrals, develop care plans, and manage follow-ups with clear clinical documentation.
  • Perform elective and emergency orthopedic procedures including ORIF, external fixation, arthroscopy, total knee and hip arthroplasty, and complex fracture management.
  • Lead trauma call duties: triage acute emergencies, stabilise patients using ATLS protocols, and coordinate timely operative intervention.
  • Collaborate with anesthesia, physiotherapy, radiology and nursing teams to optimise perioperative pathways, rehabilitation plans and discharge planning.
  • Maintain rigorous clinical governance: ensure informed consent, surgical safety checklist compliance, infection control, and participate in morbidity & mortality reviews and outcome audits.
  • Mentor and supervise junior doctors and trainees; contribute to continuous medical education, clinical audits and community outreach camps.

Skills & Qualifications

Must-Have
  • MS Orthopaedics or DNB Orthopaedics with active State Medical Council registration
  • Proven operative competence in trauma surgery and joint arthroplasty
  • Demonstrated experience in open reduction internal fixation and fracture management
  • ATLS and BLS certification
  • Proficiency in arthroscopic procedures (knee and shoulder)
  • Familiarity with surgical theatre protocols, infection control and outcome documentation (EMR experience preferred)
Preferred
  • Fellowship in joint replacement or sports & arthroscopic surgery
  • Experience in high-volume public or private orthopaedic centres
  • Prior involvement in teaching, audits or research in orthopaedics
